Sello Tshabalala, former Provincial Chairperson of SADTU Gauteng, passed away on 7 September 2020.
“I have learnt with sadness about the demise of Cde Sello Tshabalala, former Provincial Chairperson of SADTU Gauteng. Cde Sello, was part of the intelligentsia of the working class. He was an outspoken and astute leader of the South African Democratic Teachers’ Union.
Those of us who were fortunate and privileged to work closely with him, can attest that he was a diligent and courageous leader, who would never shy away when the chips were down. To him, members came first. Serving with him in the NEC of SADTU was both an inspiration and a memorable experience. I will always cherish the moments we spent together in the tranches. He was a dependable ally. A trusted cadre.
Today death has robbed the education fraternity of a great and valuable leader. A man with an exceptional skill of analyzing a situation and providing appropriate solutions.
My dear friend, Sello – You were never a coward nor a sellout. You served humanity with distinction. Go well my brother. Goodbye my leader. Farewell my comrade in armsLala uphumule Mshengu!!!
